Simple Search

The simple search provides a straight forward way to query the VirJenDB dataset vie keywords. Currently we treat everything entered into the searchbar as a single term, therefore it is recommended to only search for one term. With the provided term we search for matches in the following columns:

• Sample NCBI Scientific Name Scientific species names
• Sample Species Name Abbreviation Virus species abbreviations
• Host Natural Scientific Name Virus host scientific names
• Sequence Title Titles are often constructed with diverse information with no cooherent structure
• Bioproject Accession ID, Biosample Accession ID, INSDC Accession ID, SRA Accession ID, VirJen ID, BVBRC Accession ID - Identifiers of different sources

It is avised to consider the nature of the content in these fields to get better search results.

We allow for a certain amount of misspelled characters depending on the length of the provided search term.

All queried fields are connected via or keywords, which means you will retrieve a results for any hit in any column: e.g. search term “coronavirus”, Sample NCBI Scientific Name is empty, but you can still find the entrie because it features “coronavirus” in its Sequence Title.
